How to Encode and Decode URLs
Encoding a URL
Select URL Encoder, enter your plain text or web address, and the tool will immediately percent-encode characters like spaces (%20), ampersands (%26), and slashes into safe HTTP parameters.

URL Encoding Questions
Why do URLs need to be encoded?
URLs can only contain certain ASCII characters. Special characters like spaces, question marks, slashes, ampersands, and non-ASCII letters must be converted to percent-encoded format (e.g. space becomes %20) to prevent breaking web protocols and query parameters.
What is the difference between encodeURI and encodeURIComponent?
encodeURI is designed for complete URLs and leaves characters like http://, ?, &, and / intact. encodeURIComponent is designed for individual query string values and encodes all special characters including slashes and ampersands.
Is any data uploaded to a server?
No. All encoding and decoding are executed locally in your browser using JavaScript's native encodeURIComponent and decodeURIComponent functions.
